Plenty of people are put off writing tab by rhythm notation, so there isn't any. Every beat is the same width and is split into four 16th notes, so the space between notes is the rhythm. A note twice as far from the next one lasts twice as long. Need triplets? Click a beat and press Triplet beat to split it into three. Notes ring until the next note on the same string, just as they would on the guitar.
Each technique has a button and a single key: hammer-ons and pull-offs, slides, bends (half, full and 1½) and releases, vibrato, palm muting, dead notes, tapping, and natural and pinch harmonics. Grace notes, slide-ins and slide-outs take up no rhythmic value, so they don't throw your timing out. They're all played back as written, so you can check your tab sounds right.
Click and drag to select several notes. Press Play and that section loops, which is ideal for checking a tricky passage. You can also delete them, add a technique to all of them at once, or copy and paste them somewhere else. Copy bar duplicates a whole bar for repeated riffs, and Undo is always there if you change your mind.
Your tab is kept in your browser, so it's still there next time. Save it as an image, print it or save it as a PDF, or copy a link that opens the tab exactly as you wrote it. It works for 6, 7 and 8-string guitar and for bass, in whatever tuning you've set.
No. The spacing between notes sets the rhythm, so if you can count to four you can write tab that plays back in time.
Yes. Choose your instrument and number of strings with the I play switch at the top of the page, and the tab adjusts to match.
It's saved in your browser automatically. To keep a copy elsewhere, save it as an image, print it or save it as a PDF, or copy the link.
Yes. Click and drag across the part you want so it's highlighted, then press Play and it loops until you stop it. Without a selection, playback starts from wherever the cursor is. On a phone, tap a note, press Select, then tap the other end.
