FAQ / Policy

Tuition

Q - “Do I need any experience in music / guitar to take lessons with you?”

A - No! I take on students from beginner through to professional level. As long as you’re keen and you put the work in, I’m more than happy to teach you.

Q - “What is your cancellation policy?”

A - I have a strict 24 hour cancellation policy with no exceptions. I used to be more lenient but regular cancellations are harmful to my business and so I have to draw a strict line at 24 hours’ notice. Personal Illness / emergencies, though of course unfortunate, do not qualify. Full payment is to be made for the lesson if it is cancelled without the provision of the appropriate notice. That said, I can be very flexible with rearranging or cancelling lessons as long as I am given notice. On the rare occasion that I need to cancel at late notice, I may apply some leniency to one future cancellation of yours in return.

Q - “Do you teach Grades?”

A - I don’t explicitly teach to a syllabus, though I am more than happy to help guide you through the process should you wish to pursue grades in your own time. Graded tuition is offered to adults only.

Q - “Do you provide lesson resources / materials?”

A - Yes, I summarise each lesson for you and send this via email within 1-2 working days.

Production / Mixing

Q - ‘Can I record the song myself and just send it to you for mixing?’

A - Yes! If you know what you’re doing and you’re confident in your ability to record then this is a great way to save time and money. All I will say is that I strongly advise you get comfortable with editing as this can add time and ultimately cost to your mix if I have to a substantial amount of work on the back end. I’m happy to do a few little edits here or there for parts but I’d advise doing this yourself if possible. Drop me an email if you want some advice on how to get to grips with the editing process.

Q - ‘How many mix revisions do you offer?’

A - I offer 2-3 revisions.

Q - ‘What is your turnaround time?’

A - I aim to get a project back to you within two weeks.

Q - ‘Should I get my track mastered by you, or should I get this done elsewhere?’

A - I strongly advise that you go elsewhere for mastering. This is not because I’m unable to do so, it is purely because the importance of getting a second set of ears on your music cannot be understated. I’ll do the absolute best job I possibly can to get your mix ready for release, but that final touch from an external source can really help to polish things and make some tweaks that I, as perfect as I am (he says jokingly), may miss.
